Description

IT'S FINISHED! IT'S FINI- gah! *grabs hair and rolls on the ground*

Download for full size. Warning: It's big, 2000x3000pixels.

I felt that my brain was going to run out of my ears if I have to work another minute on this thing.

This is my submission for eenets' yearly digital drawing contest: [link]
This years overall theme is "Biodiversity" ("Elurikkus", literally "the richness of life") and I'm thinking of submitting it under the subtheme of "Emakese Maa lapsed" ("Children of Mother Earth")....or something like that.

The comic...well...many have heard or used the phrase, that humankind is a virus on the face of this planet. So I worked with it, taking lines from vikipeedia (estonian wikipedia) and loosely illustrating them. The moral, I guess, is that although humanity is a virus the most successful viruses are the ones who live in harmony with their hosts.

I thank my sister for giving me the idea and my IT teacher for allowing me to spend his class assembling the image. I'll submit it either later tonight or tomorrow. The deadline is on the 15th and I was actually so scared of missing it that I've skipped art school this whole week just to spend my waking time on the 5th row.

~~ENGRISH~~

1. Viruses (Vira; from the latin word virus 'poison') are biological objects, that reproduce by infecting living organisms.
2. The first phase of infection, when the virus so-to-say ''settles into'' the cell without noticeably affecting it is called the lysogenus phase.
3. The lysogenus phase may, depending on the conditions and the strain of virus, last from a couple of minutes to many years.
4. The second phase of infection is called the ,,lythical phase'', during which the normal activity of the cell is suspended and repurposed for the creation of new virus particles. The viroids then leave the cell in an attempt to infect new cells.
5. But...interfering with the cell or killing the host is not actually beneficial for the virus, since it eliminates them from their residence and leaves them no opportunity to keep reproducing.
6. Thus the most ecologically successful virus is the one that doesn't murder it's home
- Paraphrased from Vikipeedia.

Features Radisson building ( [link] ) in Tallinn and Port Artur ( [link] ) and Tallinns' Gates ( [link] ) in Pärnu.
The fifth row is supposed to represent...probably climate changes and famine? Close future about what will happen, if the humanity will continue their abuse on the planet? But it came out less disturbing than I had hoped - I had terrible climate changes, starving children and war in my mind, but I ran out of patience. The sixth row is Earth, all boiling hot and dead. *shrug* Overall I'm happy with how it came out, it reeks less patriotism than my earlier competition works.
